Split shipping available if you want some comics NOW!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 09, 2020 at 06:44:16 AM

Hi Backers,

If you'd like to have some of your comics shipped now, and the rest shipped later (rather than everything shipped at once in November), you can now do so.

DIRECTIONS: Access your survey through BackerKit and select the add-on item "Split shipping option". The cost is $4.50, which will cover the additional shipping cost. A week from now I will start shipping to anyone who has chosen this option.

Also, for anyone who had chosen to pick up their rewards at either SPX or CAB - both canceled, I will be shipping your rewards to whatever address is listed (so please make sure that is correct). If you are local (Manhattan) and want to pick up from me, just get in touch. I won't be charging those who selected to pick up at SPX or CAB, but if you want to help out you're welcome to select the add-on listed above.

Books are here! Last chance to change your address.

Hi everyone! Two more of this year's publications are physical realities. I've unloaded Mike Freiheit's "WOODS" and Patrick Dean's "Eddie's Week" graphic novels from the truck, and they look INCREDIBLE!

I can't wait to get these out to you, but I want to make sure they go to the right address. If you've moved or relocated due to the pandemic, PLEASE make sure you change your address before I begin shipping these out tomorrow.

Anyone who selected a backing tier that does NOT include Thomas Lampion's "The Burning Hotels" or November Garcia's "Malarkey #5" (on schedule to debut in early November) will get your rewards soon. For anyone who did choose either/both of those comics, I'm working on a way to allow for split shipping with BackerKit. To keep shipping costs down, I only charged for a single shipment in November (when everything has been published). BUT, if you want me to ship the first three comics now, and the other two in November, it may be possible to add in the additional shipping cost to allow for it (waiting to hear back from BackerKit).

I hope everyone is hanging in there. Thanks again for your support!

Full steam ahead!

Hi there backers!

I just wanted to check in to let you know that everything is proceeding as planned, despite the pandemic. Well, not everything. Obviously all the comic cons for the year have been cancelled, so the books won't have a "proper" debut. But, they'll still ship out to comic shops and Kickstarter backers at their allotted times (Patrick Dean's "Eddie's Week" and Mike Freiheit's "WOODS" in mid-September, Thomas Lampion's "The Burning Hotels" and November Garcia's "Malarkey #5" in mid-November). Oh, yeah, actually Malarkey #5 was originally going to debut in September but was pushed back to November due to Covid related nonsense.

If you ordered a bundle including anything debuting in November, everything will ship at once in November.

Allison Salerno wrote an article about Patrick Dean drawing while disabled, fighting for social justice and more for Folks. You can read it here!

Publishers Weekly reviewed Mike Freiheit's WOODS, which you can read here!

Thomas Lampion has been hard at work, and he's sent me a number of beautiful pages for "The Burning Hotels". Here's one I especially like:

The future is uncertain, so we've scaled back our plans for 2021. However, we do have a project in the works that was planned before the pandemic. It's an anthology I'll be co-editing with the incredibly talented Haleigh Buck called TOO TOUGH TO DIE. It will collect personal (true) stories from aging punx about all manner of things punk related. We're also planning on putting out a few low-stakes floppies and/or minis. We'll continue publishing Lance Ward's "Flop Sweat" auto-bio series as well as something new from artist Robert Stevenson (Comfort Creatures). We're in love with his lettering and grotesque detailed pen & ink phantasmagoria.

He even drew his own version of the Birdcage Bottom Books' logo. We're hoping to put it on t-shirts, stickers, etc. in the near future!

That's all for now. Hope you're all weathering the storm. Love and comics forever!

How Covid-19 affects this Kickstarter
about 4 years ago – Sat, Apr 04, 2020 at 07:44:41 PM

Hi everyone,

I sincerely hope you're staying safe & sane during this insane pandemic. I wanted to let you know the latest news. Our printer in Canada has been shut down by the Canadian government. We were expecting a shipment of Max Clotfelter's "Rooftop Stew" (a reprint of last year's sold out title), but it looks like that will be delayed indefinitely. We still have a few months before the files for these Kickstarter books were due, so we're continuing to prepare the books for print in the hopes that they will be produced.

We were supposed to be debuting Lance Ward's "Flop Sweat #1" at MoCCA Fest today, but obviously that convention was cancelled. We're not sure of the status of SPX in September or CAB in November are yet (where the rest of the Kickstarter comics are to debut).

Diamond, the monolithic distributor that supplies most every comic shop in the U.S., has stopped accepting shipments and stopped paying their vendors (like me!), so it looks like the comics industry as a whole will hit stormy seas. Nobody's quite sure what it will be like on the other side, but I imagine a lot of comic shops will go out of business. I run the BBB distro from my apartment, so I'm still able to fulfil orders for the time being. If you're signed up on our mailing list, you should've received a discount code for 20% off all BBB publications.

Lance Ward's "Flop Sweat #1" just arrived, so anyone who ordered just that floppy will be receiving it shortly. If you ordered other comics from our Kickstarter, those (along with Flop Sweat) will be shipped all together around September or November (depending on what you ordered). In case you don't want to wait, I will send a link to read a digital copy of Flop Sweat #1 to backers in a separate update.

Here's some new sample pages from Thomas Lampion's "The Burning Hotels":

I've sent out all the surveys, so please complete them when you have a chance. Take care, everyone!
